About us

We believe

Our ethos is to encourage children to experiment and discover art through a theme or topic planned each 10 weekly programme. We strive to inspire children by using a wide range of materials and approaches, looking at artists both contemporary and historical.

We study and explore many different art forms and techniques including sculpture, painting, drawing, textiles, printmaking, installation, ceramics and other various crafts. We offer a focus but also allow a level of freedom that is quite different to school. A sense of direction and understanding that engages, excites and motivates the children who come to Artescape year after year.

We visit exhibitions regularly and invite artists to share their work and ideas with the children, using this to gain a wider perspective of the life and challenges of a working artist or designer.

We inspire children with exciting art projects

Teaching a range of skills and approaches to making and creating many different art forms, such as sculpture, drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles and clay work. We make regular trips to galleries and invite a range of inspiring artists, architects and designers to lead one-off workshops to support our termly topics.

My daughter thoroughly enjoys her Saturday classes. She doesn’t get the opportunity during her usual school day to experiment with different art forms and it has opened her eyes to an exciting experimental world and huge change from her usually structured day. The outings are particularly inspiring and I only wish I could be part of the class too! Many thanks for the hard work in expanding their creativity!
